1972 Ph.D. in Philosophy of Science, The University of Warsaw
1979 Habilitation, The University of Warsaw (a degree higher than Ph.D.; this degree is important
         in Poland, Germany and many other countries in proceeding with the academic career).

PUBLICATIONS:

About 170 papers; co-authored a book, co-edited three books,
edited three conference proceedings and special issues of two journals.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Knowledge discovery in databases. Large-scale representation of knowledge in intelligent info. systems.
Automated discovery in a science laboratory, Foundations of machine discovery and learning.
Autonomous intelligent robots: robot arm, mobile robot, robot-scientist.
Real-time intelligent learning system 'Automated Pilot'.
Software engineering in artificial intelligence. Reusable AI software.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPED:

Discovery systems: FAHRENHEIT, 49er, GALILEO, GELL-MANN, STAHL, MENDEL.
BOGEY: Tactical manager (automated pilot) that learns from experience.
TARGET: system for target recognition.
