Description: This course presents the theoretical and applied issues related to the analysis, design, and implementation of relational database systems.
Prerequisite: ITCS 6114 - Algorithms and Data Structures or consent of the Department.

Written in Stone Policy: When grades are emailed to you for assignments, you have 7 days to meet with me for grade changes.  After 7 days, the grades are written in stone and can't be changed after that point.

Topics: Database Environments and Architecture, Relational Model, Relational Algebra and Calculus, SQL, ER Modeling, Normalization, Database Design, Transactions, Data Warehousing, Data Mining, File Structures, Query Processing.
Policies: It is required that you attend class on a regular basis.  Class participation is very important to the organization of the course and contributes to your overall final grade.  No make-ups for in class assignments given. Exams will be based upon assignments, assigned readings and class discussions. You are individually responsible  for the home-work assignments and exams. See Academic Integrity.  If you are having difficulties, see me during office hours or schedule a meeting with me via email.

The use of cell phones or other communication devices is disruptive, and is therefore prohibited during class. Ensure that all devices have been silenced. Except in emergencies, those using such devices must leave the classroom for the remainder of the class period.
