Dr. Depeng Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Software & Information Systems and the School of Data Science at UNC Charlotte. His research focuses on data mining and machine learning, specifically differential privacy, algorithmic fairness, and ethical AI. He is also interested in robust and explainable machine learning in text classification, anomaly detection, and image recognition.
Depeng received his Ph.D degree in Computer Science from University of Arkansas in 2021. He also holds Master's Degrees in Statistics and Analytics from University of Arkansas (2017), and the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University (2011).
