Hello my name is Gregory Markowski and I am from Wilmington, North Carolina.
As a very broad field, studying Mechanical Engineering allows me to
work in many different places and environments around the world. I am thrilled with
the oppurtunity to design or innovate upon a process or thing that could effect the
world in a positive way.
My greatest strengths include analyitical problem solving, diligence,
and creativity. I have always been good at problem solving whether it be reasoning
the correct answer on a test or identifying the culprit of a car problem. If I set my
mind to a problem or task I will always find a solution. "Thinking outside
the box" has never been a problem for me, always being able to come up with
original ideas. Procrastination has always been a weakness of mine, however, my
quality of work never diminishes. If I were to chose five things to put on a bucketlist
in no particular order I would surf in indonesia, own a brewery, live on a sailboat for an
extended amount of time, obtain a pilot's liscence, and have a large workshop. In the past
one hundred and fifty years the airplane, computer, and telephone have made the greatest
impact on mankind's prosperity and quality of life by making it easier to connect and
communicate with people over long distances and eliminating laborious jobs.
In this class I would like to design a rack that holds my surfboards in the back of my
Bronco. The rack would need to keep the boards from sliding around preventing dings and
damage. It would also need to store at least four boards and fit within the inside of a
1989 Bronco while still leaving enough room for people to sit in the back. This assignment
roughly took me three and a half hours to complete.
