Unit 2 Assignment
Problem Statement:
Most people who keep potted plants inside have the issue of lifting their potted plant from the tray that catches the excess water. Typically people will throw this excess water from the tray outside.The purpose of my design is to be able to have a tray that is connected to a hose bibb so people would not have to pick up their potted plant and be able to access the excess water from the tray and be able to reuse it to water their plant.
Assumptions:
The assumptions for my design is that it will be able to withhold a certain amount of excess water from the plant while also, preventing from the owner having to pick up the plant to remove it from the tray. The tray connected to the plant could possibly overfill with water that is why it would be necessary to release some of the water from the hose bibb into a watering pot.

Strategy 1
For the Middle Age:
Strategy 1 consist of a pot that already has small holes on the bottom to let the excess water run out into the tray. There is a hose bibb connected to the tray, this allows access to water. The excess water caught from the tray can be poured into a watering pot or cup from the hose bibb and then back into the plant if needed.
Strategy 2
For the Elderly:
Strategy 2 consist of a submersible pump with a float switch in the tray. Connected to the tray is a hose that will be placed into the pot so when needed the excess water from the tray could be pumped back into the plant.
Strategy 3
For Anyone:
Strategy 3 consist of a PVC pipe connected to the bottom of the pot so when there is excess water it flows into the PVC pipe and into the watering pot. There is a plug that you can put onto the end of the PVC pipe to stop the flow of water and avoid overfilling the water pot.
