Unit 4 Assignment
Problem Statement:
Most people who keep potted plants inside have the issue of lifting their potted plant from the tray that catches the excess water. Typically people will throw this excess water from the tray outside. The purpose of my design is for people not to have to worry about having to lift the plant and remove the tray. My design allows for anyone to be able to acess the excess water from the tray easily and be able to reuse that excess water to water their plant. I have chosen one of my designs from my previous page and designed the parts that would allow for my design to function. The method I chose was the door releasing method, I have created three different types of hinges for this method.
Assumptions:
The assumptions for my design is that it will be able to withhold a certain amount of excess water from the plant while also, preventing from the owner having to pick up the plant to remove it from the tray. The tray connected to the plant could possibly overfill with water that is why it would be necessary to release some of the water from the hose bibb into a watering pot.

Decision Matrix
Concept 1 consist of the self-lock spring hinge. Once the door is open it will begin to slowly close because of the spring so it will not have to be manually closed like normal springs. The only concern with this hinge is that the spring could possibly get stuck overtime. Concept 2 is a downward hinge this hinge cannot close itself like the other two hinges but it weighs the less and easy to replace if needed. Concept 3 consist of a two part self lock hinge the concern for the this hinge is the pins making sure they will not slip out. After doing the decision matrix Concept 1 the self lock spring hinge seemed to be the best concept overall.

Khayzarn Qubbaj:Your strategies sketches are very well drawn and easy to understand. Also, your decision matrix is clear and makes sense which design is the best.
Obyda Marzouk:Your FRDPARRC tables are clear and make sense. Also, I really like the sketches of your strategies. You updated your problem statement well and accordingly to your stratgies.
