My Personal Webpage
UNC-Charlotte offers each and every student a personal webspace through their ninernet ID. Most may never even set it up, but in the MEGR-1202 class, students are required to activate their webspace and develop it for an assignment. Following this, most major assignments or projects were to be included and attached to the page via hyperlinks. The requirements were very simple and did not require much effort to be put in, but students were explicitly told NOT to use any web editors/designers and were only allowed to use a text editer software of choice. I started very simply with Notepad++ and have since then switched to Visual Studio Code. Furthermore, I have written a majority of my webpages by hand with the guidance of online tutorials including W3 Schools (recommended by my profesor) and YouTube. There are a few scripts or lengthy formatting sections that I simply copied, pasted, and edited to work with my design/layout, but I am confident enough to say that I understand nearly all of the code that is included within my html.
We were urged to keep our pages updated as a personal portfolio and a way to keep track of our projects during our time at UNC-Charlotte. This is exactly what I intend to do, and I have been encouraged by this project to invest my time in learning new skills and developing them into something better over time. I cannot express my gratitude for this assignment and the influence it has had on my determination as a mechanical engineering student who is always searching to learn new things.
