Planning Strategy: Sketches and General Equations
Problem Statement :
Desktop Computers employ a case to house the components of the computer. Input ports and plug ins are all located in the rear of the case, which makes it hard to access. Cases also open to allow access to the components, commonly using a panel that detaches from the rest of the case. I would like to propose a design that adds a feature of mobility to desktop computer cases, to make them for user friendly.
Assumptions :
My design is based off the assumption that everyone has a traditional rectangular computer case, and basic mechanical skills to assemble and in some cases mount the product to a wall.
Strategy 1 :
My first strategy is a cart like design, that will utilize wheels to give the case a sense of mobility. This will be a cost-effective method for users who leave their cases on the floor, but still would like easy access.
Strategy 2 :
The second strategy is targeted to the users who place their case on the desk top space. This design suctions to the desk and allows the case to slide outward on a rail system. The idea of this design is to be as minimalistic as possible.
Strategy 3 :
A alternative more permanent design, geared towards enthusiasts, employs a horizontal rail system mounted to the wall. This allows for extreme mobility of your case. Targeted for people who frequently need all around access to the case.
Lessons Learned :
When running through the design process there is always areas to approve upon. In this given assignment, I needed to utilize both a Gant chart and a FRDPARRC table. The Gant chart is extremely helpful in organizing your time and giving you daily attainable goals. The FRDPARRC table aids the design itself, by making you think about the different ways to achieve the task at hand.

Advisee Comments :
My comment to Eric Hasse: This Project looks good, I would re scale your PDF files to make them easier to view. This door opening mechanism seems to be a great idea!
My comment to Landon Barbee: The project is well laid out and fits the template closely. I would recommend expanding on your lessons learned.
