The B450 Tomahawk holds a special place on this website as the very first motherboard ever reviewed here. This motherboard is sturdy and has lasted the test of time, even for its price of $100 at the time. The motherboard has small LED lights behind it giving a solid red color. This is the only RGB on the motherboard, and it can be controlled using MSI's Mystic Light Software. The motherboard's VRMs are good enough to handle any CPU it supports, including even the stronger 16-core CPUs. However, this board is recommended to use 8 cores or less to keep the board cool. The motherboard also lacks built-in internet, so it relies on Ethernet only. You can purchase a WiFi USB dongle or PCIe cards, but make sure there is enough space in one of the slots to do so. The layout of the B450 chipset lacks USB I/O and can limit options for external devices. This board only has 5 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB-C 3.2 port and also requires the I/O shield to be mounted first before installation. The motherboard does have a good number of fan headers, sufficient to fill a full ATX case without a fan hub.
I give the MSI B450 Tomahawk a 3/5.
