Security Education for Future Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workforce
The overall goal of this project is to design a comprehensive suite of course modules and hands-on
exercises that focus on the security education of the control, communication, and sensing modules in
advanced manufacturing systems (AMS), implement the materials in both undergraduate and graduate
level engineering technology and computer science courses, conduct systematic evaluation, and
contribute to the establishment of an education and training pipeline for future manufacturing
workforce.
The proposed efforts consist of the following components: (1) build a flexible manufacturing experiment
platform for security educational purposes; (2) design a suite of course modules and hands-on projects
upon the platform that focus on security and reliability of the manufacturing control mechanisms;
(3) implement the instructional materials in engineering technology
and computer science courses and conduct systematic evaluation;
and (4) promote dissemination and adoption of the proposed approach.
The project is supported by NSF SaTC program under the award number 1523096.
