The First International Workshop on Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC)
in conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM 2010)
May 2010, Kansas City, Missouri

The concept of cloud computing provides a brand new opportunity for the development of mobile applications since it allows the mobile devices to maintain a very thin layer for user applications and shift the computation and processing overhead to the virtual environment. Several organizations such as ABI Research have predicted that cloud computing will completely transform the way mobile applications are being developed, acquired, and used. However, mobile cloud computing is also facing many challenges such as the dependency on continuous network connections, data sharing applications and collaboration, and security. These problems must be carefully investigated before mobile cloud computing can become the next big thing. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners in all aspects of mobile cloud computing, including but not limited to:
  • Architecture of mobile applications in cloud environments
  • Thin client layer on mobile devices
  • Delay tolerance applications
  • Software structure for mobile cloud application
  • Collaborative operations in mobile cloud computing
  • Mobile social network
  • Security in mobile cloud computing
  • Business model for mobile cloud
  • Design tool
  • Data sharing and collaboration
  • New applications
We would like to encourage novel ideas and creative applications that are not on the above list. The workshop is to act as an environment to promote the development of mobile cloud computing.

Submissions
MCC is soliciting full papers of up to 6 pages and short papers of up to 3 pages. All submissions should be formatted in the IEEE Two-Column Format. Formatting instructions can be found at
the IEEE Conference Publishing Services. All the papers should be submitted in electronic format (pdf version) through the Easychair system. All accepted full papers as well as all short/position papers of attendees will be archived in IEEE Xplore and IEEE Computer Society (CSDL) digital libraries.

Both research and position/vision/white papers are invited. Submissions must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings. All authors and their affiliations must be listed. Each accepted paper must be presented by one registered author. Please submit your paper through the EasyChair system.

Proposals for panels are also solicited. The proposals are to be concise, up to 2 pages in length, describe the handled topics, name potential panelists and briefly scope the panel for MCC. Please submit your panel proposals as a PDF by email to weichaowang@uncc.edu.
