Coordinate -

• One of several numbers describing a location in a reference coordinate system.
• One of many state descriptor parameters used to characterize a machine or substance.
• One of several numbers which form a vector representation of a magnitude and direction in a specific reference coordinate system .

Consider an object which, in a specific reference coordinate system, has an X  position of 10 meters, a Y position of 5 meters and also a  mass of 7 kg which is described with the state descriptor (10, 5, 7) using the basis (X position in meters, Y position in meters, mass in kg). It can be said that the object has an X coordinate of 10, a Y coordinate of 5, and a  mass coordinate of 7.The basis must be well defined and understood.  See also machine coordinates.
