Linear Displacement Accuracy -
- The maximum difference between actual displacement (determined through measurement) and machine commanded displacement (corrected for
thermal expansion) along a line. May apply to a specific carriage
or throughout the whole working range of a machine. See also linear
displacement error
- As a reported quantity value for the
whole machine, it is the maximum of the systematic errors in displacement
from any commanded position of a tool or probe
to any other commanded position in the working range of a CNC machine or CMM.
- This value may be used in specifying machine tool or stage performance and
should be confirmed after delivery on site. Regular evaluation of the linear displacement
accuracy of the machine will assure machine accuracy or reveal deterioration of
performance which may require maintenance.
