Temperature Variation Error - (TVE) A measured estimate of the maximum possible positioning or measurement error induced solely by deviation of the environment from average thermal conditions. Usually specified for a given length of time such as 24 hours.

Machine Tool TVE -  A measure of the degree to which the position of the tool of a machine tool moves (linearly and angularly) with respect to the table over an extended period of time with the nominal machine state  remaining the same. Result of changing thermal conditions of the environment.
