Week of Monday, December 9, 2013
  • Grad Students - you must also demonstrate your project to Dr. Conrad.  He has a sign-up sheet on this door.
  • The Final Exam is Wednesday, December 11, 2:00 pm - 4:30 PM in EPIC G287.  Open book, open notes.  You may use a PC, but it must only run PDF viewer - no browser.
  • Grades will be posted in Moodle for the final exam.  Remember, the total in Moodle does not represent that the two lowest quizzes and one lowest homework are subtracted when I calculate the course grade.
 

Week of Monday, December 2, 2013

  • Lab 7 is posted and due December 4.  The due time has been extended to 8pm.  Asis Panday will be available for lab checkout from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday - he will have no office hours Thursday or Friday.

  • The September 30 version of the book is now available.  Only a few typos were fixed.
  • No class on Monday, October 6 (Fall break).
  • Lab 3 is due Friday, October 4, 5:00 pm. - NO EXTENSION!!!!
  • The midterm exam is October 8. 
  • Homework 7 is due Monday, October 21, at the beginning of class.

  • Homework 5 is due Friday, September 27, 5:00 pm.  You can turn it in at class or to the TA during office hours.

Week of Monday, September 9, 2013
  • Lab Assignment 2 is Due Friday, September 20, 2013 at 5:00 pm. The demo video is posted
  • Homework Assignment 4 is Due Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the beginning of class.
  • For Graduate students: The project was detailed in the syllabus. You will write a lab assignment for one of the 12 chapters in the Advanced Embedded Book. The chapters have been posted to Moodle2 in the ECGR5101 course only (not the combined ECGR4101/5101). You may browse through the Chapters in Moodle2. I will start the sign-up for chapters on Monday, September 16. Note: current lab partners may not sign up for the same chapter!!!!! The expectation is that you will work alone on the graduate project.

  • The lab assignments will use the Renesas RX63N Evaluation Board.  Each student can purchase one if they wish.  Visit www.renesas.com or other on-line sites to purchase one (about $100).  Also, the Charlotte Area Robotics club will sell boards at the 8/26 class for $100.

  • Welcome to ECE 4101/5101!  The first week of class starts Monday, August 19, 2013.

  • Please take the time to read the class syllabus.

  • This course may use videos of lectures recorded during the Fall 2011 and Fall 2012 semesters. The professor uses transparencies and the document camera to teach this class.
  • The course book is Embedded Systems: An Introduction using the Renesas RX63N Microcontroller by James M. Conrad, Micrium Press, 2013.  A FREE copy (pdf) is in the class website (notes page) and Moodle site.  You can NOT buy a hardcopy yet since it has not been printed.  Note:  Tests are open book, open notes, and you can use a pdf on a PC during a test.
  • The lectures are on YouTube in high-definition, so make sure to choose the better resolution option (and perhaps make it full screen) for the best viewing experience.
