Step 4 of 9: Adding Hosts

To start pvm, all you have to do is to type pvm at the command tool prompt. You will then get the prompt pvm>.  This process may take some time, so be patient.  The prompt pvm> indicates that the pvm daemon has started.  To exit, type quit and you will exit the pvm interface, however, the daemon will still be running in the background.

%pvm
pvm>

The simplest way to add additional hosts, is to add them manually through the command prompt. Type     add machine at the pvm prompt, i.e. at pvm>, where machine is the name of the machine you wish to add.

 For example,

pvm>add pvm1

The line above would add the machine pvm1 to your virtual system.

BE SURE TO HALT PVM BEFORE YOU LOG OUT!

pvm>halt
