We meet every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in COED 102!
Welcome to Charlotte Combat Robot Club! Our goal at Charlotte Combat Robot Club (CCRC) is to share our passion for robotics in the most fun and exciting way possible: action-packed and spark-flying combat!
We fight combat robots in a 8ft by 8ft cage made of bulletproof glass. We fight around 3 times per calendar year around the North Carolina robot fighting circuit in museums and colleges. Fights are typically two minures long, and the last robot moving wins. If a match goes to the judges after the two minutes, points are awarded based on damage done, aggression, and control.
Although robots with spinning weapons and sharp edges are dangerous, we are highly committed to the safety of all members of CCRC. We follow nationally accepted safety guidelines for robot combat (SPARC), and officers go through required safety training to ensure the only things being hurt are robots in the ring. Members will also be taught and reminded of safety rules throughout the design and building process. Another top priority of CCRC is inclusivity. Everyone is welcome regardless of major, experience, race, or sexual orientation. Our goal is to build a community in which everyone is accepted and feels welcome.
Last year, we hosted a robot fight on campus with over 400 audience members over the course of the day and 38 robots! We fought against builders from as far as New Hampshire and the NC State combat robotics team, and we had a winning record overall!
