The purpose of this design is for the stand to be able to be placed on any surface and provide the laptop with a surface to be placed on allowing it to sit upright.The stand can be raised up and down to the user's desire with the use of the handle. The handle can let the user decide how far off of the tabletop they want the laptop to be.The screws hold the arm in place and make the stand stable enough to hold the weight of a laptop.
Our thought process started off with us deciding on the design of the laptop holder, which then led us to think more about the shape and type of lead screw to use. Using that information we had gathered, we came up with the design shown above, which is a laptop holder where the level of the “holder top” can be adjusted using the crank which is connected to the lead screw. This laptop holder can be placed on any surface and can hold up the laptop, therefore allowing for a better posture of the user. With the use of the handle, the stand can be raised up and down to the user's desire. The handle can let the user decide how far off of the tabletop they want the laptop to be.The handle can be turned clockwise to go up and counterclockwise to go down. The screws in the part connect the base and the arm of the stand together. The screws hold the arm in place and make the stand stable enough to hold the weight of a laptop. The screws are put in place to ensure the pieces will stay together and the weight of the laptop will not make the arm break from the stand.
