The purpose of this design is to provide people with a 3 in 1 solution for storing toilet paper, displaying "in use" toilet paper as well as providing a trash can to dispose of used toilet paper. I have developed multiple variations along the waym and have done modifications to my design to be able to finalize my design and assemble the final design.
My assumption is that the toilet stands at about 17-19 inches off the ground, therefore the designs were made to accomodate to that.As well as providing a cost efficient, hassle-free product that will solve the daily struggles of not having enough bathroom storage as well as not having a toilet paper holder within reach.
This decision matrix is used to analyze the components of the final assembly. The criteria used is chosen due to the important role it plays in the design. The criteria chosen were the cost, manufacturabiliy, and durability and they were given the same weight due to the important roles that play. The pivot had the highest rating due to it having high scores for all 3 criteria, with it havuing more detials than the other parts it might require a longer manufacturing time. Arm scored the lowest due to its simple geometry, therefore it would not require too much time or detail. The bolt came right after the pivot score wise, where it scored the same for the cost and manufacturability but had a lower score for the durability due to it not have a solid base as the pivot, but is still able to withstand the weight of the arm. Finally, the arm scored between the pivot and bolt, where it was not very costly but still got the job done to where it is durable and not to difficult to manufacture. All these components are going to be manufactured from stainless steel, due to ite lightweightness but strength at the same time.
The Gantt Chart for this project will be updated continually as I get to work on more assignments.
