Travel Pal is a product that was designed by four mechanical engineering students. From that, we have blossomed into a small start up. We appreciate all people who have helped us through our humble beginnings. Below are a few things about our engineers. Thank you for your support!
Daniel Kiesz Sophomore: Mechanical Engineering My name is Daniel Kiesz, and I am a mechanical engineering major at UNC Charlotte. I am pursuing a degree in engineering because I want to work for an automotive company or race team in the future. This project has taught me parts of the design process such as creating a design to meet certain specifications, as well as the marketing aspects that go into promoting the product online. I feel my knowledge of CAD systems and my teamwork skills have had a significant impact on this project. These were shown through ways such as projecting different 3D design options to display, in addition to communicating with my team members.
Natalie LoVullo Sophomore: Mechanical Engineering My name is Natalie LoVullo I am a Mechanical Engineering Major at UNC Charlotte. I spent two years at North Carolina State University and transferred to Charlotte this Fall. My goal is to work for Tesla as one of the Mechanical Engineers on their electric Semi Truck Project. I currently work at Berry Global as a Process Engineering Intern. My background is in nonwoven plastics, so this project was a good way for me to be introduced to the particular design and manufacturing precautions that are needed when designing injection molded parts. I learned a lot by working with a team of other engineers. I feel as though I learned a great deal about how I work with others and about the programs that were necessary to put this project together. Many long hours were spent in the lab and it was a great way to apply the coding we briefly learned in class to a greater scale project.
Grant Donley Sophomore: Mechanical Engineering My name is Grant Donley and I am a Mechanical Engineering student at UNC Charlotte. I hope to work in the aircraft industry with my degree and more importantly serve in the United States Air Force. I am a part of the Air Force ROTC program at UNC Charlotte and hope to commission as a Pilot. Planes have a big influence on me and I hope to work closely with them in the future. This project has given me a chance to work with other engineers towards a common goal. Every input from my team members was valuable and furthered the goal of the project. The team building skills learned from this project can translate to other worldly jobs we may encounter.
Mack McDonald Sophomore: Mechanical Engineering My name is Mack McDonald and I am a mechanical engineering student at UNC Charlotte. I aspire to work for Fluor, as an engineer involved in the construction and maintenance of power facilities and infrastructure. I received the opportunity to tour a site where a natural gas power plant was under construction, and was able to see all of the work that the engineers were putting in. This has inspired me to search for a career in energy production . I would say this is fairly similar to the design of the Travel Pal for our project, in the sense that a group of people with varying talents came together to create a final product that meets a specific set of needs.
