Hi, I'm Robert Monaco. Currently I live in Statesville, NC, but my city of birth is Toledo, OH. My reasons for becoming an engineer strongly overlap with why I moved out of state. I want to expand my opportunities for work, and create systems that people will use daily. Day-to-day products, such as hair dryers, washing machines, and other home appliances seem interesting to me due to their rugged construction and the need to survive tens of thousands of use cycles at a cheap price point. I am most interested in taking 3D design classes, as well as management and economics courses. I believe that it's difficult to provide an outstanding product at an outstanding price, and that is a problem that I feel keen to tackle. I consider my strengths my ability to remain focused under pressure, my dedication to what I do, and my constant search for knowledge. Interestingly, my weaknesses are intertwined with my strengths. Although I am focused, I tend to cooperate less under pressure. My dedication can sometimes cause me to focus deeply on one part of a project instead of being mindful of the bigger picture. Also, sometimes I will get hung up over the theory behind a procedure or solution rather than embrace its practical outcomes.

In no particular order, my top five bucket list items are as follows. Firstly, I want to become a professionally licensed engineer. I have been working toward this goal ever sinc I graduated high school, and real life has set me back a number of times. My second bucket list item is to drive the entirety of I-75, from the northmost point to the southmost point in the US. Having grown up all along I-75, I feel connected to the highway in a way that's difficult to put into word. I feel as if it's my duty to explore ever foot of the highway, and see the parts of the world that it links together. My third bucket list item is to get invited to speak in front of over 1000 people. My time and skills are something that few people ask of me, so I would feel significantly more confident about myself and others' opinions about me if I were asked to share my thoughts in a large, public forum. Alternatively, acting as a consultant on the behalf of thousands of people would suffice. My fourth bucket list item is to make more money than my parents. With the cost of living continuously going up, I've realized that the only way to maintain my standard of living is to get an excellent job and make six digits or more. The world is becoming expensive quickly, and I am worried that I will not have the same financial stability as my family before me. In a way, this is the most practical of my bucket list items. My final bucket list item is to make a decision that would change the course of history. I have no clue how to go about this, except to just keep climbing the social ladder and meeting more powerful and influential people.

While I can't think of any personal facts that are critical for the world to know, I learned how to drive manual transmission vehicles at 7 years old. I was also a musical prodigy in my middle school and high school years, thanks to my father who has always been committed to practicing the guitar. All in all, this assignment taught me that it is important to structure folders and names correctly, and that the ability to talk about oneself in a professional manner is still an elusive and sought-after skill.
