Information Technology and Skills

Aaron was a previous systems and database technical lead for all SCONC computer systems.
He oversaw the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of research and operational systems, including a high-performance computing cluster and multi-master MySQL environment.
Aaron Sims is well versed in the following Information Technology:
- perl, shell scripting, MySQL, Fortran, python, NCL, Models-3 IO/API, ArcGIS, NCO, subversion, github, php, R, grass, javascript, and Microsoft Office.
- Environmental models such as, WRF (Weather, Research, and Forecasting), WRF-Hydro, NASA-LIS, and Flexpart-WRF.
- NFS, LDAP, Samba, networking, PBS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Unix, Windows, Mac.
Aaron Sims is experienced with the following Technical Skills:
- Creating, developing, and adapting scripts for post-processing, comparing, and evaluating data in research and real-time environments.
- Using, modifying, adapting, and analyzing numerical models.
- Many gridded and raster datasets including: GRIB, NetCDF, HDF, Arc-Ascii, geotiff, and other binary file formats.
- Data retrieval and ingest, data manipulation and formats, post-processing, and visualizations packages.
- General systems administration including account management, networking, and developing, compiling, installing, and troubleshooting software.
