BiographyMd Jahangir Alam Khondkar is a Ph.D. student and Research Assistant in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, advised by Dr. Stephanie Schuckers. His research focuses on biometric recognition, 3D face mask generation, low-cost mask fabrication, deepfake analysis, voice biometrics, and AI-based spoof detection. He works with the KED/KDD Lab and is an active student collaborator with the Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR), contributing to multi-institutional projects on biometric security and evaluation. He holds an M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson University, New York, where he developed an NIR-based infant iris scanner (IEEE EMBC 2024) and StyleGAN-based synthetic palmprint generation (Journal of Cybersecurity and Privacy, 2024). He also contributed to the Voice Pre-Processing and Quality Assessment Dataset (IEEE DataPort). His research broadly spans artificial intelligence (AI) and its subfields of machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) applied to biometric systems, including audio denoising, AI-driven video analysis for healthcare, and sensor-based signal acquisition. In addition to his research, Jahangir has significant academic and professional experience. He served as a Teaching Assistant at Clarkson University for courses in Embedded Systems and Digital Design, where he guided students in programming, circuit design, and project-based learning. At UNC Charlotte, he has mentored undergraduate teams in the “Introduction to Biometrics” course, supervising projects on 3D mask generation, fingerprint spoofing, and speech recognition. Prior to his academic journey in the U.S., he worked for over seven years in the IT industry, holding leadership positions in systems and network operations, including as Manager of IT Systems at FRIENDSHIP NGO and Assistant Manager (Technical) at Computer City Technologies Limited. |
