Problem:
I chose to tackle a project I am actually
currently dealing with in real life. An engine I have been
building and upgrading has been in the works for several years
now and over time I've noticed things that I can do to help
improve an engine building process as a whole. The three
main problems I have encountered are the construction of a
wiring harness, designing a fuel delivery system that can output
the correct amount of fuel and more, and also designing a
quality engine stand for assembly and inspection.
Assumptions:
Improving these three areas of the engine
building process can greatly improve the accuracy and quality of
the outcome. The modular wire harness will allow me to expand
the electronics system for future additions, the fuel system if
done properly will be easy to upgrade and monitor, and the
engine stand will help with not only my personal projects but
perhaps others.
Gantt Chart:
Strategy 1: Making a better Wiring Harness
Strategy 2: A Fuel system with room for future horsepower
Strategy 3: A more convenient engine stand
Lessons Learned
The three strategy charts were very easy to construct
especially since I have been working on these three projects for
a few years now. The one thing I did not know how to construct
was the Gantt chart, but once the TA pointed me in the right
direction I was able to complete it fairly quick. After
seeing the amount of work required for the rest of the semester,
I will definitely be aiming to stick by my Gantt chart and
manage my time more wisely.
